BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) on Friday denied that the yellow line from RV Road to Bommasandra is being launched on January 6.

Reacting to social media posts regarding such claims, the chief public relations officer of BMRCL stated in a release, “There is a news circulating on the social media stating that the Yellow Line (R.V. Road to Bommasandra) is being opened for public on 6th Jan, 2025. The actual fact is that the First train set manufactured at Titagarh Rail system limited (TRSL), Kolkata, for Namma metro Yellow line is being rolled out from this facility on 6th Jan 2025”.

On Thursday, Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya, in a lengthy post on X, said, “As you all are aware, the start of the Namma Metro Yellow Line operations has failed to meet all the deadlines given by BMRCL, frustrating all of us. The main reason for the delay in start of operations is the unavailability of the trains. However, there is some good news finally on this front.

“Over the last few months, I have been continuously following up with the train manufacturers – Titagarh Rail Systems – to expedite production. Many roadblocks, including VISAs to engineers, were addressed. Titagarh even put up a dedicated line for manufacturing trains for BMRCL.

“We now have the first train ready to be dispatched to Bengaluru on January 6th. Titagarh has committed to deliver the second train by end of January or first week February and the third in April. Thereafter they will deliver 1 train per month and increase to 2 trains per month by September. I have also asked BMRCL to work parallel to get all CMRS approvals in place, to prevent further delays on that count.

“I have requested Hon. MoHUA Minister to visit the manufacturing plant on 6th January, flag off the trains to Bengaluru and also inspect the plant to help further expedite things. I will also be present in Kolkata for the same.

“Like all of you, I am equally frustrated with the repeated delays in the start of #YellowLine. On another occasion I will explain how screwed up the situation was. But for now, let me assure you that I will do everything possible to get this started as soon as possible. It won’t be long before Yellow Line starts chugging along. It’s a promise”, he stated.
