MYSURU: Ahead of the Dasara procession on Vijayadashami day, Mysuru royal family scion Yaduveer Srikantadatta
Chamaraja Wadiyar on Wednesday conducted Ayudha puja to the 32 royal weapons at the Mysuru palace. These 32 weapons symbolise those held by Goddess Durga.

On Thursday, the Nandi Dhwaja puja will be conducted between 1 pm and 1.18 pm during Dhanur lagna. The Dasara procession will start from the palace premises between 4.42 pm and 5.06 pm during Kumbha lagna.

On Wednesday, the Ayudha puja rituals began at 6 am with the royal weapons being taken to the Kodi Someshwara temple in the palace premises where Chandika homa was performed. The weapons were brought back to the palace and puja was performed to the golden throne by Yaduveer as per the directions of the royal priests.

Later, puja was offered to the royal elephants, horses, camels, cows and the royal family’s private cars. The police band also played as a state honour.

The royal sword is said to belong to the times of the Vijayanagar empire and was the weapon of Vijayanarasimha Ranadhira Kanteerava. Some of the other weapons date back to the time of Krishnaraja Wadiyar. In the evening, Yaduveer will hold a private durbar following which the police band will perform. After the durbar, Yaduveer will perform puja to mark the conclusion of the Navaratri festivities.
