MYSURU: A mixed martial artist (MMA) from Mysuru, who was participating in the state-level K-1 Kickboxing Championship organised by the Kickboxing Association of Karnataka, died after sustaining a blow on the head during a bout.
Nikhil (24) was participating in the kickboxing championship held at Kengeri in Bengaluru on July 9 and 10. During a bout, he sustained a blow on the head from his opponent and collapsed in the ring. The moment was captured on a mobile phone.
Nikhil was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru where he was in coma for two days and died on Wednesday.
