Muslim youth arrested for alleged moral policing in Mangaluru

MANGALURU: A group of Muslim youths allegedly assaulted and abused a student of the same community, reportedly over an issue related to a girl. The incident took place near Adyar in Mangaluru and one of the youths has since been arrested.

Ibrahim Fahim (18), a resident of Uppal in Kasaragod district of Kerala and studying in a private college in Balmatta, was assaulted by the group led by Anan, son of SDPI leader Anwar Sadat, and Tahish.

The group had kidnapped Ibrahim Fahim over the issue of a Muslim girl and kept him in a flat in Adyar on the outskirts of the city. The accused were said to be under the influence of ganja when they assaulted Ibrahim.

A case has been registered at the Port police station in Mangaluru and one of the accused has been arrested.
