There is outrage over selective targeting of Hindu activists in Dakshina Kannada, and now Chakravarti Sulibele seems to be targeted as well. Some are questioning whether this is part of a larger agenda, possibly on orders from the Congress high command. First, a letter from the Minority Commission, followed by a letter from the police, has led some to question the functioning of the government.
Following the speculations, Chakravarti Sulibele said, “I don’t have a single case of communal hatred against me. This might be an attempt to divert people’s attention from the RCB stampede incident and manipulate public opinion”. He said believes that he’s being targeted to cover up the stampede incident.
Responding to the police department’s inquiry about cases against him, Sulibele said, “This is a Congress tactic, it’s nothing new. The government is trying to impose restrictions on me, possibly even by invoking the Goonda Act”. Sulibele added, “The government is trying to suppress my voice, but we’re not the kind of people who will be intimidated. Congress might be worried that I will become a thorn in their side in the future”.
Regarding the cases against him from 2022-25, Sulibele offered to provide the information himself, saying, “I will give the details of the cases filed against me during the Congress government, especially after Siddaramaiah became the Chief Minister.”
Sulibele revealed that there are five cases against him, with two registered in Shivamogga and two related to his tweets. One case was filed for allegedly using an “unparliamentary” term to describe Mallikarjun Kharge’s property, and another for casteist remarks, which is currently in the Supreme Court.
Sulibele emphasized that he only speaks about history and questioned why they should think that he is targeting the Muslim community when his comments are about historical figures like Ghazni and Ghori.
