Mulberry cocoons set on fire, loss estimated at Rs 30 lakh

KOLAR: Mulberry cocoons were set on fire by some miscreants in Bhuvanahalli village of Malur taluk on Thursday. The incident took place under Malur police station limits.

The mulberry cocoons belonged to Srinivas of the village. Cocoons worth lakh of rupees and chandranki (circular bamboo mounts) which is using for rearing silkworm were completely gutted in fire.

It is estimated that about Rs 30 lakhs worth materials were lost in the fire. Firefighters doused fire successfully and a case has been registered at the jurisdictional police station.
