BHOPAL(Madhya Pradesh): Two tiger cubs, who were injured after being hit by a train at Midghat track, died while undergoing treatment at Van Vihar National Park in the state capital Bhopal, according to an official release.
The cubs were rescued from Midghat track, Budhni in Sehore district and brought to Van Vihar National Park, where one cub died on Tuesday morning and another on Wednesday.
“Two tiger cubs, very seriously injured in a train accident, were rescued from Midghat Railway Line Budhni on July 16 and brought to Van Vihar National Park. The said two tiger cubs underwent a detailed health check-up and X-ray conducted by the wildlife doctor and other medical team on July 17.
Accordingly, continuous treatment was being done by the veterinarian of Van Vihar in consultation with subject experts,” the release read.
“One tiger cub had died on Tuesday morning, July 30 and the second tiger cub, which was very seriously injured, also died today on July 31,” it added.
The release further read that the said two tiger cubs, which were seriously injured, were kept under observation and continuous treatment was being given to them in consultation with experts.
But due to severe injury and fractures in the hind part of both the tiger cubs, their hind part was not working and the tiger cubs were not taking sufficient amounts of food and water, due to which the desired improvement in their condition was not being reflected. Despite better treatment, both the tiger cubs could not be saved, the statement read.
After the postmortem, the tiger cub was cremated according to the protocols at Van Vihar National Park in the presence of senior officials, it added. (ANI)
