INDORE (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh’s Indore has set a Guinness World Record by planting more than 12 lakh saplings within 24 hours, Nishchal Barot, Guinness World Record Consultant, said on Sunday.

This achievement not only reinforces Indore’s reputation as the country’s cleanest city but also demonstrates a significant commitment to environmental sustainability.

Barot said that the title of this Guinness world record was most trees planted by a team within 24 hours.

“More than 12 lakh trees were planted in Indore within 24 hours. The title of this Guinness world record was ‘Most trees planted by a team within 24 hours’. We started this record on July 13 at 7:03 pm, and it continued till today by 7:03 pm. The good thing is that Indore broke the old record at 5 pm. Assam held the old record for planting 9,26,000 trees in 24 hours. The record was broken at 5 pm and a new record was made. Then the counting started and then we got to know that more than 12 lakh trees had been planted. The numbers will be released later,” Guinness World Record Consultant, Nishchal Barot said.

He further said that the final certificate would come from London.

“However, we have handed the certificate of the new world record to CM Mohan Yadav. Right now, a provisional certificate is being given. After the final numbers, the certificate will come from London, in which numbers will be mentioned that by this number, the record is being broken,” he added.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated the city for setting a surreal world record. “Congratulations, Indore! The city of Indore has set a surreal world record by planting 12 lakh saplings in a day under PM Shri @narendramodiJi’s campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
