MANDYA: Over 30 passengers of a private bus had a miraculous escape after it caught fire near Ganangur in Srirangapatna taluk on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway on Saturday. The bus was carrying a marriage party from Shivamogga.
The bus was on its way from Bengaluru to Mysuru when a fire broke out due to an electrical short circuit. As soon as they detected the smoke, the passengers asked the driver to stop. Moments after they disembarked, the entire bus was up in flames.
The Fire and Emergency Services personnel arrived at the scene and put out the blaze, but by that time, the bus was completedly charred. Gunda Bhat, one of the bus passengers, said most of their luggage was burnt, but no one was injured. The incident occurred in Srirangapatna Rural police limits.
