Movie producer arrested for cheating several people of lakhs of rupees

BENGALURU: The Adugodi police have arrested a film producer who duped several people to the tune of lakhs of rupees after promising them jobs with the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), transfers, etc.

The KMF had conducted written exams for appointment to various positions in December 2022. Prakash, who had produced the Kannada movie ‘Shabash Baddi Magane’, had taken struck a deal with Charan Raj of Chikkaballapur for Rs 20 lakh to get him a job of technical officer and had taken Rs 10 lakh as advance. He had even given a fake appointment letter on a forged letterhead of the KMF director.

The KMF authorities, who realised that the appointment letter given to Charan Raj was fake, had lodged a complaint with the Adugodi police who had booked a case under IPC Sec 420 and arrested Prakash.

During investigation, the police found out that Prakash had cheated people to the tune of lakhs of rupees with promises of transfers, regularising services of contract employees among others.
