RAMANAGARA: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has quietly increased the toll on the 10-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway by 22 per cent from June 1, leading to anger among motorists.
The toll has now been increased from Rs 135 for one-way trip to Rs 165. The hike was to come into effect from the new financial year, but was put off since the expressway had been formally opened to the public only about 15 days earlier.
On Tuesday, some motorists were seen backing up from the toll booth and choosing the service road instead. Those using the expressway complained that the hike was too steep. Traffic at the Kaniminike toll booth had also significantly reduced.
Some motorists complained that though they had the FASTag, they were being forced to shell out double the toll fee.
