CHIKKAMAGALUR: A motorcycling enthusiast risked his life by walking on the parapet of a bridge across the overflowing Hemavathi river near Banakal in Mudigere taluk. His act was caught on a mobile phone camera by a passing vehicle.
Due to the continuous rain, the water level in the Hemavathi river has markedly increased and any misstep would have sent the youth plunging into the swirling waters of the river. Even for someone who knows swimming, such a situation could be dangerous.
In the video which was widely shared on social media, a couple of motorcycles are seen parked on the bridge with youths taking videos and photos. Locals have called for strict action against tourists who indulge in risky behaviour.
