BENGALURU: A woman allegedly killed her two children before attempting to take her own life. The incident occurred on Thursday night in Subramanyapura police station limits.
The victims have been identified as seven-year-old Subam and three-year-old Siya. The mother allegedly strangled the children using a rope before attempting to take her own life by slitting her throat. She is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident. Bengaluru South Division DCP Lokesh said that the incident took place on Thursday night. “Preliminary investigation suggests that the mother may have killed the children due to domestic issues,” said Lokesh, DCP, Bengaluru South.
The police have taken the mother into custody and are questioning her. The father of the children is an auto driver, and the mother is a homemaker. The couple had frequent fights. The mother had alleged that the father had killed the children. However, the police are investigating the matter further.
The woman claimed there is a rift between them and that they quarrel often. Because of this, the husband and wife, are blaming each other. The father of the deceased children drives an auto. The wife is a housewife, the DCP added.
