Mortal remains of Rifleman Jeevan Singh, killed in Baramulla terror attack, brought to Haryana home

SIRSA (Haryana): The mortal remains of Rifleman Jeevan Singh, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla, were brought to his village in Sirsa, Haryana.

People gathered in large numbers to pay their last respects to Jeevan Singh in Sirsa on Friday. Two Indian Army soldiers and two civilian porters were killed after terrorists attacked a military vehicle in Baramulla on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday paid homage to the soldiers and porters killed in a terrorist attack in the Butapathri area of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. He laid a wreath and paid homage to Rifleman Jeevan Singh, Rifleman Kaisar Ahmad Shah, and Defence Porters Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdary and Zahoor Ahmad Mir, who laid down their lives for the nation.

The incident came amid a spike in terror incidents in the erstwhile state of Jammu-Kashmir. In another incident on October 24, terrorists shot at and injured a labourer in the Batgund Tral area of Pulwama district. The injured labourer was identified as Pritam Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier on October 20, a doctor and six construction workers were killed when terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in the Ganderbal district. (ANI)
