NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday referred to the Calcutta HC decision scrapping OBC certificates to target Trinamool Congress and accused it of appeasing the “Muslim vote bank” as he also targeted Congress saying the “politics of appeasement is crossing every limit” and “Khan Market gang paap ki bhagidar hai.”

Addressing a rally in Dwarka in the national capital on Wednesday, PM Modi said CAA was being opposed by INDIA bloc parties to please their vote bank.

“Today, Calcutta HC has given a verdict that all the OBC certificates issued after 2010 have been cancelled. This was done because the West Bengal government inexplicably gave OBC certificates to Muslims, only for the Muslim vote bank. This vote bank politics, this politics of appeasement, is crossing every limit,” he said.

“‘Aaj Court ne tamacha maara hai, yehi log kehte hei… Yeh Khan Market gang paap ki bhagidar hai, yehi log kehte hei…They say that Muslims have the first right to the country’s resources. These people are continuously giving government lands to the Waqf Board and asking for votes in return. These people want to reserve 15 per cent of the country’s budget for minorities. They also want to give loans from banks and government tender based on religion. These people are opposing CAA to please their vote bank,” he added.

PM Modi has in the past also used the “Khan Market gang” jibe to target his political adversaries.

He further said that the Shehzaada of Congress (Rahul Gandhi) “confessed” that the system created during the time of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were against the Dalits and Backward Classes.

“Today, the Shehzaada of Congress has confessed a big truth. He has accepted that the system that was created during the time of his grandmother, his father, and his mother has been staunchly against the Dalits, backward classes, and tribals. This system of Congress has destroyed many generations of SC-ST-OBC,” PM Modi said.

“It is time that the country recognizes these communal people. In Delhi, my Sikh brothers and sisters were burnt alive by putting ablaze tires on their necks… Today, every party standing under Congress’ umbrella is guilty of the Sikh massacre. PM Modi is giving justice to the victims of the Sikh riots. We made an SIT and we punished the accused Congress leaders. For the INDI Alliance, nothing is more important than their vote bank,” he added.

He criticized the Congress party for missing an “opportunity” to display the nation’s capability to the world during the Commonwealth Games while emphasizing the G20 summit hosted by India under the BJP government.

“A PM of the Congress said that when 100 paise was sent from Delhi, only 15 paise reached the bottom. Today, one rupee was released from Delhi, total of 100 paise reached the account for the beneficiary. In the last 10 years, we have transferred Rs 36 lakh crores through DBT. If it had been the Congress government today, Rs 31 lakh crore of it would have been looted by the middlemen. Who can forget the Common Wealth Games? Congress had the opportunity to display India’s capabilities in front of the world. But they looted Delhi. And during the G20 Summit, the world praised India.

This happened because of BJP’s policy of ‘Nation First’. Congress and INDI alliance’s policy is ‘Family First’,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi also listed achievements of the BJP government in the past 10 years while taking a dig at the Congress party.

“Congress constructed 12km highways every day, Modi government is constructing 30 km. Congress made 70 airports in 60 years, Modi made 70 new airports in 10 years. Congress made 380 medical colleges in 60 years, Modi made more than 325 new medical colleges in 10 years. There were 7

AIIMS during Congress rule, today there are more than 22 AIIMS. Only 25 per cent of people had tap connections under Congress’s rule, today more than 75 per cent of homes have tap water connections. Today we are the biggest mobile phone exporter in the world. Today, there are around 1.25 lakh start-ups. We are doing defence production of more than one lakh crore. Today banks are making a profit of more than Rs 3 lakh crores,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi also expressed confidence in the BJP-led NDA getting another term.

“The voting on more than 400 Lok Sabha seats has been completed. The 5 phases have confirmed a strong BJP-NDA government. The country understands that any vote for the INDI alliance is not going to be of any use to the country. Every vote for the BJP will ensure the resolution of Viksit Bharat,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister addressed two public rallies in Uttar Pradesh. During one of the rallies, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the INDIA bloc equating their characteristics to “diseases worse than cancer,” and accusing them of being “extremely communal, racist, and nepotistic.”

“The INDI alliance has diseases worse than cancer. They can destroy the whole of India if they spread. These three diseases can be more destructive for the country than cancer. These diseases are, these people are extremely communal, these people are extremely racist, and these people are extreme nepotists,” said PM Modi while addressing a public rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Shravasti.

The first five phases of polling were held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20. The next two rounds of voting will be held on May 25 and June 1 in the sixth and seventh phases respectively. The counting will be held on June 4. (ANI)
