TUMAKURU: Legislative Council member Rajendra Rajanna, who is the son of Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna, has claimed in his complaint to the Kyathasandra police that a supari (hit job) was put out by senior political leaders from Bengaluru, but has refrained from naming anyone.

What was initially termed as an alleged honeytrap attempt has now taken the colour of a hit job. He also mentioned that an audio clip of an alleged conversation between the conspirators was given to him by an anonymous person.

Further, Rajendra claimed that he and his father are staunch supporters of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and that the alleged hit job may be part of a political conspiracy. This has given rise to speculation about a cold war between the Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar factions within the Congress in the state.

Rajendra, however, has named five people including history-sheeter Somu and his associates Bharat and Gunda, but has not named the politician. In order to avoid embarrassment to the Congress, the honeytrap issue is being twisted as a hit job, it is being said. Sources also pointed out that the party high command has forbade Rajendra and Rajanna from revealing any names of the party’s leaders.

The police, meanwhile, have set up a team under Madhugiri Deputy SP Manjunath to probe the case.
