CHITRADURGA: Hiriyur BJP MLA Poornima Srinivas created awareness among villagers about superstitious beliefs regarding menstruating women and got and got them to return to their village, on Tuesday night.
A group of menstruating women from Badagollarahalli were camped in an open field outside the village on Tuesday night. On spotting them, the MLA created awareness among the women and also the villagers and ensured that they returned to their homes in the village.
She told the women that she is too is one among them and that nothing would happen to them if they go back to their houses. When some of the villagers started hooting and whistling, she shut them down.
The act of the lawmaker has come in for praise from different quarters.
