BENGALURU: Techie Vipin Gupta, who had been missing from the city for 11 days, has been traced and secured by Kodigehalli police at a mall near Noida. He has changed his appearance to hide his identity.

Vipin, who had shaved his head and was wandering around, had gone to Tirupati from Kodigehalli and then to Noida after offering his hair (mudi) to God. Following his detection, Bengaluru DCP North East shared the information on X on Friday.

His wife Sreeparna Dutta had filed a missing person’s complaint at Kodigehalli police station after he went missing on August 4 from Sahakar Nagar area. There were much speculations about his disappearance. Vipin’s disappearance was even compared to software engineer Ajitabh’s abduction with his car case in 2017.

It is said that Vipin wanted to escape from his wife’s harassment. The police have found Vipin, but the mystery behind his disappearance is yet to be revealed.

Sreepartna said that Vipin was last seen riding his bike, which was later found abandoned in the parking lot of a private hospital. He was wearing a T-shirt at the time of his disappearance. She reported that Rs 1.8 lakh was withdrawn from her husbandโ€™s bank account just 24 minutes after he went missing and his phone has been switched off since 2 pm on that day.

“Vipin was not suffering from depression nor did he have any addictions. We are devastated and need help”, she said during a Facebook Live broadcast, urging the public to provide any information that could help in finding her husband.

Following her request, the city police traced Vipin to Noida.
