BENGALURU: The city police on Saturday arrested a minor who had sent a bomb threat email to the National Academy for Learning (NAFL) school in Basaveshwara Nagar on Friday. Shockingly, the boy, a student of another school, told the police that he did it ‘just for fun’.
The Class 8 student had sent an email saying, ““I have four gelatine sticks of dynamite and I will blow it up tomorrow afternoon during lunch – your favorite student.” On noticing the email, the institution authorities immediately informed the police and evacuated the students to safety. A bomb squad and dog squad were also deployed, but no explosives were found and the police determined that the threat was a hoax.
A friend of the minor studies in NAFL and he sent the threat email after doing a Google search for the NAFL email ID. He committed the act without understanding the consequences of such action, police said.
On Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Poice (west) Lakshman Nimbargi said, “The bomb threat was received by NPS School, Rajajinagar, coming under Basaveshwara Nagar police limits. We’ve ensured that students are taken to a safe place, and the bomb disposal and dog squad have reached the spot. A case will be registered and investigation is under way”.
After the arrest on Saturday, the DCP said, “A minor student from another school had sent the bomb threat email to the NAFL school without knowing the consequences. A report will be submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board for further inquiry”.
