BENGALURU: The state Cabinet is firmly behind IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge, who is caught in a controversy over the suicide of a Bidar contractor. Several ministers, including Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, Home Minister Parameshwara and Boseraju, have come out in support of Kharge, stating that his name is not mentioned in the death note.

The Congress government has already ordered a CID investigation to uncover the truth in the contractor’s suicide case. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday also supported Kharge and gave the green signal for a CID probe.

Despite all Congress leaders support, the BJP has set a January 4 deadline for Priyank Kharge to resign and warned of protest in Kalaburagi.

Home Minister G Parameshwara defended Minister Priyank Kharge stating that he has already clarified that he had no role in the contractor’s suicide case and that his name is not mentioned in the death note. Parameshwara criticized the BJP for making baseless allegations.
