BENGALURU: Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar has started the ‘Swabhimani Hindu’ campaign against Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Satish Jarkiholi for his remark that the ‘Hindu’ word is of Persian origin. Sunil Kumar has also demanded that the entire Congress should apologise to the nation.

In a series of tweets, Sunil Kumar said, “Congress has followed the path of Jawaharlal Nehru, who said that he should not be called a Hindu. The Congress has been trying to suppress the ideology of Hinduism, Hindutva and Hindu nationality at every opportunity”.

“The word ‘Hindu’ is dirty for Satish Jarkiholi. Siddaramaiah is always afraid of the saffron colour and tilak. B T Lalitha Nayak hates worship of deities (daiva) and theertha. Muslims are brothers for D K Sivakumar while M B Patil is thinking of dividing Hinduism. Former Union minister Shivraj Patil sees Bhagavad Gita as jihad”, the minister noted.

Further, he said accused Congress leaders of harbouring anti-Hindu feelings. “Anti-Hindu statements from the Congress have increased after the Bharath Jodo Yatra. With every yatra or campaign, they show their hatred towards Hindus. Satish Jarkiholi has only given a glimpse of all the anti-Hindu thoughts of Congress leaders”, he said.

Referring to Congress spokesperson Randeep Surejwala’s reaction, Sunil said that the party cannot escape by saying that the statement made by Satish Jarkiholi was personal. “The entire Congress should apologise to the nation on behalf of Satish Jarkiholi”, he insisted.

Minister sunil Kumar started ‘I self-respected Hindu’ drive against Satish Jarkiholi

In the Twitter thread, Sunil Kumar said, “I am a self-respecting Hindu. I will oppose when someone insults Hinduism. I will stand against those who are anti-national. I will fight when anybody insults India’s traditions.”

“Our religion, our country and our language is our identity. I have the spirit of patriotism in me. There is love for my nation in my heart. There is Hindu culture in my heart. There is hatred against anti-nationals in my breath. Shivaji’s self-respect is in my blood. I will not keep quiet when someone insults Hinduism”, he tweeted.
