State Minister V Somanna caught on camera slapping at a woman in a programme at Hangala village

CHAMARAJANAGAR:  Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister V Somanna slapped a woman when she approached him on stage to share her problems on Saturday at Hangala village in Gundlupet taluk. Later, she touched his feet. A day after the incident, a video clip of the incident has now gone viral on social media.

The police took Kempamma off the stage immediately after the incident.

The woman, identified as Kempamma, went to the stage to meet Minister Somanna at a programme to distribute title deeds to beneficiaries. She was fed up with not getting the title deed for many years. Soon after the incident, the minister asked the police to escort her out. Somanna reportedly apologised to her later.

Kempamma, however, later told media persons later, “I went on the stage to requested him to give us a site. I touched his feet. The minister lifted me up, apologised, and consoled me. There was news going viral saying that Minister Somanna slapped me, but he did not. This is a false allegation. He had returned Rs 4,000, which had been given to him for the site. The minister is a kind-hearted person and has shown the path to my children by allotting me a site. I keep his photo and worship him.”

Kempamma claimed that the minister did not slap her, but only consoled her.
