Milk van driver stabs two youths to death in road rage incident

BELAGAVI: Two youths were stabbed to death by an unidentified person over a trivial reason near the government school floodlit cricket ground at Shindolli village road in Belagavi taluk on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Basavaraj Belagaokar (22) and Girish Nagannavar (22). The bodies were shifted to BIMS Hospital for autopsy. A tense atmosphere prevailed in and around  Belagavi taluk following the double murder.

Two youths were killed for trivial reason by milk van driver.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Gadadi, ACP Narayan Bharamani visited the spot. A KSRP squad was deployed at the district hospital premises as a precautionary measure.

DCP said, one accused has been secured and looking out for another to secure

The DCP Ravindra Gadadi said, “The double murder happened around 10.30 pm over a trivial reason. We have yet to secure the accused. An unidentified man was driving a pickup truck carrying milk containers, and the two youths were coming from the opposite direction on a bike near Shindolli. The youths did not leave space for the milk van to pass and an argument ensued between the two sides. The driver suddenly got out of the vehicle and stabbed the two youths with a knife. Another person escaped from the place”.

Friend of youths, Ramu said, I did not know the exact reason for stabbing these two youths.

Ram, a friend of the youths, said, “They invited me for dinner on account of Christmas celebration. They had called me many times earlier, but I refused. I told them to meet me at the Floodlight Cricket Ground. Later, I received a call saying that they were fighting with some people. So, immediately I reached the place, and by that time, the unknown person had stabbed the two. I saw the face of the accused, he is working at KMF dairy. We tried to chase them, but they escaped. The two injured people were then taken to the BIMS hospital. I do not know the exact reason for their murder”.
