Midday meal, anganwadi workers caught stealing milk powder, groceries in separate cases

The school headmaster caught the midday meal supervisor red-handed while carting away packets of milk powder.

KALABURAGI, YADGIR: Two school workers were caught stealing milk powder and groceries in separate cases in Chincholi taluk of Kalaburgi district and Hunasagi taluk in Yadgir district.

At the Government High School at Chimmanachod village in Chincholi taluk, the school headmaster caught the midday meals supervisor Narasamma red-handed stealing milk powder packets in her bag. The headmaster admonished her and later lodged a complaint with the taluk midday meal officials.

An anganwadi worker and her husband filmed carting away food items meant for children and women.

At the anganwadi centre-2 in Hagaratagi village of Hunasagi taluk, anganwadi worker Uma and her husband Adappa were filmed siphoning off fortified rice, dal, groundnuts, jaggery and chikki, meant to be given to children, pregnant women and nursing mothers.

In a videos doing the rounds on social media, Uma can be seen peeping outside to check if her husband has come. In another video, Adappa can be seen carrying a huge sack on his shoulder from inside the anganwadi centre and keeping it on his motorcycle. Uma also comes with another bag which too she keeps on the motorcycle for her husband to take away.

Villagers have called for strict action against those stealing supplies meant for children and women.
