BENGALURU: There’s something more to cheer for Namma Metro commuters. In the latest initiative by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), Metro users will no longer have to wait in line for tickets with their families in tow.

Namma Metro is extending the QR-code based ticketing system for its commuters, by which a maximum of six members of a family can travel with a single ticket. The initiative will be launched in January next year and entire families can travel together on a single ticket.

As of now, Namma Metro commuters travel using the token system.

Yashwant Chauhan, Senior Public Relation officer of Namma Metro said, the single ticket system for families with QR code will be launched in January.

Senior Public Relation Officer of Namma Metro, Yashwant Chauhan, said, “Metro passengers are spending much of their time standing in front of ticket counters. Hence, BMRCL is introducing family tickets. One ticket can be used for six members of a family. The new system includes travel for not only a family, but also for friends and relatives on a single ticket. We have started it on a trial basis from November 1 and we are getting good response from passengers. The system will be implemented fully from January 2023. The BMRCL will become even more people-friendly through its service in coming days.”
