BENGALURU: With the number of commuters on Namma Metro increasing by the day, people are forced to stand in queues during peak hours. Taking the issue into consideration, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has decided to introduce additional Metro trains to manage peak hour traffic.
With the Metro reach expanding in Bengaluru, the number of passengers has also seen a significant increase and thousands of people travel by Metro every day. The Metro trains are overcrowded during peak hours and commuters suffer by the time a train reaches from one station to another due to packed passengers. They also face problems while boarding and getting off the trains. Therefore, Namma Metro is considering of ways to solve these problems by introducing additional trains during peak hours.
Yashavanth Chavan, Chief Public Relations Officer, said, “A total of 57 Metro trains are operating in Bengaluru. Earlier, these trains were running without any problems. But now, after the expansion of Metro lines, the number of riders has also increased. Despite trains operating every three minutes during rush hours, commuters are complaining that there is a chaotic situation in almost all Metro stations. It is a matter of concern for us”.
The Namma Metro has planned to run additional Metro trains in the coming days. In a few days, two more Metro trains are likely to be introduced on the purple and green lines.
