BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has some good news for passengers travelling on the Yellow Line (also known as the East-West Corridor) of the Namma Metro. In a bid to improve services, BMRCL is set to increase the frequency of trains on the line from early next year, reducing the waiting time for passengers.

Currently, trains run every 15 minutes, but with the addition of new trains, the frequency will increase to every 8-10 minutes. This change is expected to benefit over one lakh passengers who travel on this route daily.

Two new train sets are being brought in from Kolkata’s Titagarh and six trains are already running along the yellow line. The two new trains are expected to arrive in Bengaluru by the end of December and will be pressed into service after necessary testing, Namma Metro chief PRO Yashavanth Chavan said.

The Yellow Line, which connects Kempegowda International Airport to Bannerghatta Road, has been plagued by delays and disruptions since its opening. However, with the increased frequency of trains, passengers can expect a smoother and more convenient journey.
