BENGALURU: The people of the state, who are already upset with the hike in prices of various commodities and services, seem to be in for another blow. Autorickshaw fares are likely to increase soon, with a significant meeting scheduled to take place on May 13 under the leadership of the Bengaluru Urban District Deputy Commissioner.

Currently, the minimum autorickshaw fare in Bengaluru is Rs 30 for the first 2 km and Rs 15 for every addition kilometre. Auto drivers have demanded a revision of fares, seeking to increase the minimum fare to Rs 35.

If the new rates are implemented, the minimum auto fare is likely to rise from Rs 30 to Rs 35. Additionally, the per kilometer fare is expected to increase from Rs 15 to Rs 18. The meeting on May 13 is expected to finalize the revised rates and announce the implementation date.
