BALLARI: Two medical students from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, who had come to visit the historic site of Hampi in Hosapete taluk of Vijayanagara district, got stranded on Matanga Hill when they had gone on a trek. However, they were later rescued by the police.

The students, who were on a trek, lost their way while ascending and descending the hill, which is one of the most inaccessible areas in Hampi. The students, who were clueless about which direction to go, panicked and called 112 for help. The duty officer immediately sprang into action, and the staff searched for the stranded students and brought them back safely.

The two students, who were rescued by the police, praised the police staff for their timely intervention and expressed their gratitude. “From the temple at the foothills, we went up, but the way to come down didn’t seem good. So, we took the path to the south which had steps, but after some distance, the steps ended. After that, we called the emergency number and we were rescued by the police within 10 minutes”, the youths said.
