BENGALURU: A medical student was killed in an accident in front of Rajarajeshwari Medical College on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Krithikaa C S B (21) while the two-wheeler rider suffered injuries.
Krithikaa was riding pillion on a Honda Activa scooter with her friend Hansa (21), also an MBBS student, when a tipper lorry crashed into them from behind. The impact was such that Krithika died on the spot. Hansa suffered severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at RR Hospital.
The Kengeri traffic police team visited the scene, and a case has been registered at Kengeri traffic police station. An investigation is under way to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Anoop Shetty said, “The tipper, which was going towards Mysuru, knocked down the two-wheeler in front of RR Medical College around 4.30 pm on Wednesday. The tipper tyre went over Krithikaa and she died in hospital. The two-wheeler rider has sustained injuries and a case has been registered while the tipper driver has been arrested”. Based on evidence, further legal action will be taken, the DCP added.
