MBA student throws acid on 3 college students after one of them rejects his advances

MANGALURU: A masked assailant threw acid on three female college students of Kadaba Government School in Mangaluru on Monday morning after one of them allegedly turning down his proposal.

The accused, who has been identified as Ebin, is an MBA student and a resident of Nelambur in Malappuram district, Kerala. He attacked second-year PUC students Alina C B, Archana and Amrita when they were sitting under a flagpole on the college campus.

The accused allegedly targeted Alina, causing serious injuries to her face, and the other two, who are sitting next to Alina, suffered minor injuries. The accused had come in school uniform. It is suspected that he used acid used in rubber plantations. Thus, the risk is very low and the victims are out of danger.

The injured are PUC II science students. Alina and Ebin knew each other for the last eight months and it is suspected that he targeted her as she declined his proposal. The injured were shifted brought to AJ Hospital in Mangaluru.

Police said that the accused has been arrested. The assailant is said to be 23 years old hailing from Kerala. One of the victims, aged 17, is also said to be from Kerala. The accused came with a mask and cap to hide his identity and carried out the attack.

The accused tried to flee from the scene after the attack. At that time, other students on campus caught him. The public  gathered soon after receiving the information and the accused was handed over to the police.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police C B Rishyanth, said the prime accused Ebin, has already been arrested. “He is from Kerala. One girl has suffered major burn injuries, while the other two sitting next to her have minor burn injuries”.

The acid attack victims were first treated at Kadaba government hospital and later shifted to Mangalurru for further treatment. The acid attack took place while the students were preparing for the examination on the school premises, and they suffered serious injuries to their faces.
