The fish deaths have been caused due to pollution of the water, say locals.

BIDAR: Thousands of fish have died at the historical Papnash lake here due to polluted water. Ironically, Bidar is the home district of Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre.

Sewage from Shivanagar in the city is let into the lake and many citizens also dump waste, but the authorities have chosen to turn a blind eye. Birds and animals also depend on the lake for water and before any loss of animal lives, the district administration should act, feel many concerned citizens.

The historical Papnash lake on the outskirts of the city is also a major tourist attraction and is home to several species of birds.
