Massive fire breaks out in Srigandhakaval forest area

BENGALURU: A massive fire broke out in the forest area of ​​Srigandhakaval near Sumanahalli Bridge in the city and trees have caught fire due to the rising temperature.

The fire has engulfed almost half of the 3-acre forest area belonging to the BBMP. The Fire spread widely as a result of intense heat waves. It is suspected that the fire was set to dry garbage, has spread to the forest area. It has been learnt that the fire broke out inthe forest area on Thursday night.

The forest department used the area to dump wooden timbers from trees that were cleared in the city. Similarly, the timber that was sold outside was also brought here to be auctioned. All the timber, whichever was not auctioned, was stored in the forest area.

Officials also suspected that, some miscreants may have set fire to the dry wooden pieces, which spread over the area.

The firefighting personnel, who have worked continuously for nine hours, have doused off the fire.

Kamakshipalya Police and BBMP personnel have visited the place and inspected the place.
