DAVANAGERE: A masked man attempted to kidnap a Class 6 student in Jagalur on Thursday evening when the boy was returning home from school. However, the boy managed to free himself by raising an alarm.
Gokul was walking back home when an unidentified person who was standing under a tree near the Imam school accosted him saying that he needed help to remove a thorn stuck in his foot. When the boy approached him, the masked man closed the boy’s mouth and started dragging him away.
However, before they could cover some distance, the boy started screaming and wriggling to free himself. Unnerved by this, the masked man lef the boy and fled from the scene. Gokul dropped his school bag and water bottle at the spot, ran home and informed his family members. According to him, 4-5 other people were also present near the school building.
The Jagalur police were later informed who visited the spot and have launched a hunt for the alleged kidnapper.
