Mangaluru police issue lookout notice for two brothers after rape of unconscious woman

MANGALURU: Two youths have been accused of raping a young woman who had come seek to help by knocking her unconscious in Mangaluru. The incident occurred on August 1 in Mangaluru and the police have issued a lookout notice for the two Muslim brothers for blackmail and mental torture.

A case has been registered against accused Mohammed Shafeen for allegedly raping a woman after mixing some intoxicant in her juice. Then he fled to a foreign country and is still absconding. The police have issued a lookout notice for Shafeen and his brother Mohammed Shiab, who is also an accused in the case and are trying to trace the whereabouts of the duo.

According to the victim, her car broke down in Kadri on July 21. At that time, a biker named Mohammed Shafeen, who was coming on the same road, repaired the car. Then, he dropped her off at her apartment in Kodialabail in the same car. During this time, he took her mobile number. The woman was living alone in the apartment.

On August 1, she called Shafeen for help as the refrigerator was not functioning at her house. He brought a mechanic to the house in order to repair the fridge. Later, Shafeen brought fruit and juice for her. She lost consciousness after drinking juice, she claimed.

When regained consciousness, Shafeen told her that he had had physical contact with her. He even made a video and threatened to make the video viral if she did not cooperate with him. He also took her car during this time. The victim also alleged that Shafeeen stole her car and Rs 62,000 in cash. The woman managed to escape and filed a complaint with the police.
