MANGALURU: The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have busted the largest drug racket in the state’s history. Two women from Africa have been arrested in connection with the case. The police have seized 37.5 kg of MDMA, worth Rs 74 crore in the international market.
Six months ago, the police arrested a person named Hyder near Pumpwell in Mangaluru and seized 15 grams of drugs from him. The police then launched an operation to catch the drug suppliers and arrested a Nigerian national, Peter, in Bengaluru. They seized 6 kg of MDMA from him.
Based on the information provided by Peter, the police launched another operation and arrested two women from Africa. They had come to Bengaluru from Delhi by flight. The police arrested them near Electronics City in Bengaluru.
Drug mafia kingpin Abdul Faisal has been arrested, and the police have seized live bullets from him.
Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal held a press conference and provided information about the operation. He stated that the Mangaluru CCB police had conducted a major operation and seized a large quantity of drugs. This is the largest drug seizure in the state’s history. “The Mangaluru CCB police have carried out a big operation. This is the biggest drug racket in the state’s history. We had arrested a man named Haider near Pumpwell in Mangaluru six months ago. We had seized 15 grams of drugs from him. The CCB police had been conducting an operation for the past six months to arrest those who were supplying drugs to him”, he said.
Agarwal further said, “We had arrested a Nigerian national, Peter, who was staying in Bengaluru. We had seized 6 kg of MDMA from him. Based on his information, we conducted another operation and arrested these two women. They had come to Bengaluru by flight from Delhi. The arrested women are Bamba Fanta (31) and Abigail Adonis (30) from South Africa. We have seized 37.878 kg of MDMA worth Rs 75 crore from them. We also seized four mobile phones, two passports, a trolley bag, and Rs 18,460 in cash”.
