BENGALURU: The City police detained a young man for posting a video on Instagram claiming that he would sneak into the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The young man, Kabja Sharan, had posted a video claiming that he would enter the stadium and even hug Virat Kohli. However, after his video went viral, the Cubbon Park Police took swift action, summoning him to the station and telling him to delete the video. Police counselled him not to do such a thing to get viewers for his Instagram Reels and then released him.

As a precautionary measure, the police took Sharan into custody before the match. Then he has posted a story saying he’ll spend the rest of the match at the police station.

Ironically, the young man, who sought Instagram likes and views, didn’t get to watch the match he was so eager to attend. Sharan, who has over one lakh followers on Instagram, had made the video post to gain more followers and likes.

The match was finally called off due to rain and defending champions KKR were eliminated from the playoffs. They are the fourth team to crash out of the playoffs.
