BENGALURU: A man was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police for creating a fake ID card in the name of a police inspector. The accused, Anand, a resident of Koramangala, used the fake ID card to threaten and extort money from people.
Anand had created the fake ID card using the ID number of a police constable, D Doddabasappa from Sampangiram Nagar. He would show the fake ID card and claim to be a police inspector to extort money from people. The CCB police are investigating how Anand obtained the police constable’s ID number and how much money he extorted from people using the fake ID card.
A case has been registered against Anand at the CCB. During interrogation by CCB Inspector Devedrappa, Anand claimed that he had used the fake ID card for exemption at toll plazas too.
