BENGALURU: A man attempted to take his own life by jumping on to the tracks at Majestic Metro station over harassment from his borrowers.
According to the police, Veeresh, a resident of Nandini Layout and a D Group employee at Vidhana Soudha, had borrowed money from friends, colleagues and others, amounting to over Rs 10 lakh. Unable to repay the debt, Veeresh allegedly attempted to end his life due to the harassment from his moneylenders.
The police recorded Veeresh’s statement at Victoria Hospital, where he mentioned the debt and money lenders’ harassment, but he did not disclose the reason for taking the loan. Based on preliminary investigation, the police suspect that Viresh might have used the loan for online betting apps and are further investigating the matter.
