BELAGAVI: An unidentified man threw ink at Maharashtra minister Chandrakant Patil on Saturday, when he was coming out of the residence of a BJP worker in Pune, over his alleged recent remarks on Dr B R Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.
Despite the police escort, the man managed to throw ink at Patil and tried to escape. The Pune city police detained the man who was seen shouting slogans in support of the two social reformers. Two others who were seen shouting slogans outside were also detained by the police.
Recently, Chandrakat Patil had announced that he will visit Belagavi, sparking border tensions between Karnataka and Maharashtra.
A video of the incident showed a middle-aged man suddenly come in front of Patil, though there was police escort, and throw ink at the minister’s face as he was coming out from an office building. Security personnel around the minister immediately caught hold of the man. He went with police shouting slogans and warning the minister.
