TUMAKURU: An 80-year-old woman, who was allegedly thrown out of her own house by her grandson in Koratagere town, was restored possession of the house after official intervention.
Kavalamma, a resident of Ward No. 3 in Koratagere town, was allegedly thrown out of her house by her grandson Maruthi. Eight months ago, Maruthi’s mother Lakshmamma passed away after ailing from cancer. Soon after her death, Maruthi kicked his grandmother out of the house when she refused to registered her property in his name.
For the past eight months, Kavalamma was living in a relative’s house, who registered a complaint under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act. Madhugiri Assistant Commissioner Rishi Anand took up the case and the district administration evicted Maruthi from the house. The citizens appreciated the officer’s work.
“A case was registered under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and we investigated the case. We are following the rules and evicted him from the house. We have given our contact information to the woman and if he threatens her again, we have told her to inform us. We will take action against him and give her protection”, said Rishi Anand.
