BENGALURU: A man was arrested on the charges of attempting to murder his pregnant wife as she denied him a divorce. He man had tried to kill her in a staged accident. This came to light after six months of the investigation. This incident took place in Bagalur in the city and the police have arrested two people in this connection.
Aravind and Chaitanya got married a year-and-a-half ago. The wife had some misunderstandings with her parents-in-law and due to this, the husband was upset that she had separated him from his parents. He was also forcing, and torturing her for a divorce, but she was not ready.
Therefore, Aravind decided to kill his wife. He bought an old Tata Sumo car to commit an accident. He hired a driver, Uday Kumar, and instructed him to kill his wife knocking her down when she was on her two-wheeler. Uday Kumar agreed to do it and before staging the accident, he scouted some of the places where she would go and where there are no CCTV cameras.
On the day of the incident, Chaitanya was returning on a two-wheeler after Bharatanatyam classes at KIDB Layout in Bagalur. Her husband Aravind was also in the car at this time. Later, both Aravind and Uday escaped from the scene. Locals informed the police and had rushed Chaitanya to a hospital.
The Devanahalli traffic police admitted the woman to a hospital, registered a case and launched the investigation. Later, the case was transferred to Bagalur police station as they had suspicions about the incident. Meanwhile, the police found the car in a garage and questioned the previous owner. He had sold the car to someone else, he said.
Later, the police took the driver, Uday, into custody, and he admitted to deliberately committing the accident. The driver also told the police about the family dispute and divorce issue between husband and wife. It has now come to light that the driver agreed to this murder thinking that all wives are the same in this regard.
The police have arrested both accused and are interrogating them. Further investigation is under way.
