Man stabs wife on Davanagere court premises, arrested

DAVANAGERE: In a shocking incident, a man stabbed his wife with a knife during a divorce case hearing on the Davangere family court premises on Saturday. The incident took place when Padmavathi (30) arrived at the court for the hearing of the divorce petition.

The husband, Praveen Kumar (36), a resident of Devaraj Urs Layout, stabbed her with a knife, causing serious injuries. Padmavathi was rushed to Chigateri District Hospital for treatment. The police present on the court premises took Praveen Kumar into custody. He too was taken to hospital as he had sustained injuries on the hand.

According to reports, the couple had been married for four years and had a daughter together. However, their marital life had deteriorated over the past year, leading to a divorce petition filed by Padmavathi. Praveen Kumar had previously attempted to kill Padmavathi in Bengaluru a year ago. He suspected her character and would pick quarrels regularly.

The incident occurred when the couple appeared in court for the divorce hearing on Saturday. Praveen Kumar stabbed Padmavathi, leaving her lying in a pool of blood. The police have taken Praveen Kumar into custody and further investigation is under way.
