BALLARI: A man stabbed his girlfriend for breaking up, at an isolated spot near the Ballari city corporation office on Tuesday morning when she was on her way to work. The victim Bharati Shavi (26) is undergoing treatment at the Hosapete government hospital.
Bharati Shavi and the attacker Vijaybhaskar (26) haild from Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh, but Bharati had been living in Hosapete for the last 10 years with her parents. Five years ago, she came across Vijaybhaskar on Facebook and the two developed a relationship. Whenever Bharati visited her native village, the two would meet.
Of later Bharati had distanced herself from Vijaybhaskar and had broken up with him. Angry over this, Vijaybhaskar arrived in Hosapete on Tuesday morning and attacked Bharati when she was on her way to work. Though she tried to defend herself, Bharati suffered stab wounds in the hands and stomach. He has been admitted to the Hosapete hospital nad may be shifted to Ballari or Koppal if her condition does not improve.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Vijaybhaskar.
