Man stabbed to death by wife’s brothers over financial dispute

KALABURAGI: A man was stabbed to death with sharp weapons by his brothers-in-law at Kalaburgi over a financial dispute.

The deceased was identified as Lakshmikanth, a resident of Santhosh Colony. The accused Shivakanthand Prashanth attacked Lakshmikanth when they came to attend some Dasara rituals at Lakshmikanth’s house on Wednesday.

Lakshmikanth and Preethi fell in love and got married. It was the second marriage for both. Some time after their marriage, Lakshmikanth had lent Rs 8 lakh to Preethi’s brothers Shivakanth and Prashanth. Later on, Lakshmikanth started asking the duo to return his money. Both sides finally agreed to settle the dues on October 2, but the brothers did not pay up.

On the day of Dasara, Shivakanth and Prashanth came to Lakshmikanth’s house on the pretext of making some offerings to the newly married couple. They even took blessings from Lakshmikanth, but suddenly attacked him, killing him on the spot.

The Ashoknagar police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
