Man slashes throat of enstranged wife, case registered

BENGALURU: A man, married for 11 years, was suspicious of his estranged wife. He always quarrelled with her and, in a fit of rage, slashed her with a knife in an attempt to kill her. Devika was rushed to the hospital, thanks to her landlord’s timely intervention.

He would post obscene photos the woman on Facebook. Despite being separated for 5-6 years, Chandra continued to harass his wife Devika, who works as a patient caretaker at a private hospital.

The accused, Chandra, would frequently visit the hospital and quarrel with Devika. He even threatened to kill her and demanded money from her, using their children as leverage. Devika had left their children with her parents and was living alone.

Chandra contacted Devika on September 17 and demanded money, and the next day, he came to her house and attacked her with a knife, slashing her throat and hands. Devika was rushed to the hospital by her landlord.

The accused Chandru was always suspicious of his wife’s character. He used to quarrel with her for suspecting someone of coming to the house. She had previously lodged a complaint against him at the Byadarahalli police station.
