Man sets fire to lender’s house on being asked to return loan

BENGALURU: A man allegedly attempted to murder his relative by setting fire to her house by pouring petrol after she sought repayment of a loan of Rs 5 lakh, in Viveknagar area.

The incident occurred around 5.20 pm on July 1 and the the accused is Subramani while the lender is Venkataramani.

Venkataramani had asked Subramani’s sister Parvathi and her daughter to return the loan she had given for the daughter’s marriage, but Parvathi threatened Venkataramani that she would not repay the loan. In a fit of rage, Subramani had decided to kill her.

Fortunately, Venkataramani and his family members escaped unhurt. The incident was captured on the house’s CCTV camera, which revealed Subramani’s involvement.

Venkataramani’s son has filed a complaint with the Viveknagar police station and an FIR has been registered. The police are now on the lookout for the accused. Subramani, Parvathi and her daughter are now on the run.
