DAVANAGERE: A resident of Chitradurga, who claimed that unauthorised research was carried out on his daughter at a government hospital at Chamarajpet here, has sought mercy killing for him and his daughter as she had allegedly suffered brain damage.

Gopal claimed that the women and child hospital in Davanagere started unauthorised research on the lungs when his wife was eight months pregnant after taking her approval without consent. Due to his, his young daughter has suffered brain damage and is in a vegetative state, he claimed.

Gopal also made a video with his daughter and uploaded it on social media. He claimed that though he sought action against the doctor allegedly responsible for his daughter’s condition, nothing was done as the doctor was protected by senior Congress leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa.

“We have not got justice, our fundamental rights have been snatched. We cannnot live in this society. The research on pregnant women should stop. The government should look after my wife and daughter”, he said. In his application with the legal services authority, he also sought mercy killing for himself and his daughter.
