BENGALURU: A man made a hoax call to the emergency number 112, alleging that he was stabbed by his wife and mother-in-law in Kodigehalli police limits. While the cops went on a wild goose chase all night, the caller had switched off his mobile phone after making the call.

The man identified himself as Rakesh when he called the emergency number. After the information was passed on to the Kodigehalli police station, the police looked for Rakesh in all the hospitals coming under their jurisdiction. However, they did not get any information about the caller or any medico-legal case (MLC) regarding stabbing.

Rakesh had given the address of his mother-in-law’s house to the control room when he called them. Following that the police went to the house and inquired, but they were stumped when they did not get any such information. The police questioned both his mother-in-law and wife and it was confirmed that no one had murdered Rakesh.

The police believe that Rakesh may have called the emergency number 112 under the influence of alcohol and may be having some domestic issues. The police could not get any information about his whereabouts, but a case has been registered at the Kodigehalli police station in connection with the hoax call.
