Man leaves home on ‘spiritual journey’, family continues search after 1.5 years

BENGALURU: About one-and-half years after a went missing from his house at Jigani in Anekal taluk, his family has is continuing their searching for him and have even lodged missing person’s complaint. The man is believed to have left home on a spiritual journey after sending a message to his brother’s friend on March 7, 2021.

Manjunath hailed from Baragi village in Mudhol taluk of Bagalkot district. He was working at Tata Advanced Systems in Jigani Industrial Area and was staying with his elder brother Mounesh.

Manjunath left his house on a spiritual journey without informing his family members.

The family had fixed Mounesh’s marriage and he had gone to his hometown for the preparations. Manjunath went missing by the time his brother returned to the city. When Mounesh inquired about Manjunath, he found out that the latter had sent a message to a friend before he went missing.

The message read, “I have started my journey towards spirituality. Don’t be afraid. One day, I will return home”. Manjunath was always fond of reading spiritual books, followed spiritual videos and discussed about the same with his friends. The family suspects he might have gone missing thinking that he might be forced to get married after his brother’s marriage and went on a spiritual journey.

“He went missing last March, and before he left the house, he had texted my friend. We have been searching for him for the past year. With the help of the police as well as family and friends, we were searching for him in ashrams and temples, but we failed to locate him. He was fond of spiritual matters, and we are confident that wherever he is, he will be fine, but we want him to contact us. We will also support his motives. If you find him anywhere, please report him to the nearest police station,” Mounesh, the elder brother, appealed.

A case has been registered at Jigani police station and police are on the lookout for the missing individual.
